Davis was born in North Carolina and studied economics and international finance in the US and London. He is currently Writer-in-Residence at Regents Park College and had previously served as Lecturer and Tutor in Oxford university's creative writing programme,

His first novel, THE PRESENCE, went on to become a national bestseller. There followed over twenty further US bestsellers, including THE QUILT, THE GREAT DIVIDE and TRIAL RUN (Book of the Year, Suspense Magazine), which he has been commissioned to adapt for the screen by Scott Anderson (Anderson Media/Hallmark). His latest book, FIREFLY COVE (Kensington, 2018) was a Book of The Month.

He wrote the story for the Feature Film, UNLIMITED, starring Fred Dalton Thompson and Roberto Amaya, and the first draft of the William Wilberforce biopic, Amazing Grace (Ken Wales/Walden Media).

Davis is co-writing the adaptation of his novel, THE MEETING PLACE for Netflix, and the adaptation of his novel, WINNER TAKE ALL has been in development with The Firm. Davis has adapted his novel, THE ISLAND OF TIME, for the screen. Writing as Thomas Locke, the first two books in his Legend of The Realm series, EMISSARY and MERCHANT OF ALYSS, are under option to Clarion Films.
