JOANNA LEIGH
Drama and Children's Writer

Joanna has an MA in Screenwriting from the London College of Printing. Her first screenwork, PLANET JEMMA (XPT Ltd for The National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts) was a 14-part web drama for teenage girls, and nominated for a BAFTA Interactive award.

Joanna has written for CRASH, a contemporary drama series about young doctors (Red Planet Pictures for BBC Wales). Her feature film SAM J, about 18th century lexicographer Samuel Johnson, was the winner of the inaugural Red Planet Prize for screenwriting and commissioned as a Television project by BBC Four. She wrote the feature film IN HER ELEMENT (WGBH Boston) about Austrian Jewish physicist Lise Meitner, involved in the discovery of nuclear fission. Currently developing another Biographical screenplay and a TV series adaptation of DISPATCHES FROM THE KABUL CAFE with its author, Heidi Kingstone.

Joanna is also working on original ideas for childrenÍs TV series, feature films and books, and is also a founder member and director of the writersÍ workshop, 3WITCHES.
